 Try and think how a Kriol speaker would actually /use the expression/word.
Examples:

 

(a)    stubborn > ayz-haad” or some say “haad-ayz” or “haad-hedid”
(b)    aluminum foil > silva fail
(c)    “They pretended to forget” … Instead of literally saying “Dehn mi
          priten…” consider: “Dehn play laik dehn mi figet…”
(d)    “a mild breeze”…Instead of literally saying “wahn mail breez…”
          consider: “wahn lee breez”
(e)     “He gives the girl a little peck on her cheek”……consider: “Ih gi di gyal
           wahn lee chups pahn ih cheek.” 
(f)    “We haven’t done that for a long time.” …..”Wi noh du dat gud wail
          now.”
(g)    ”I understand perfectly.” ….”Mee andastan gud gud-wan.”
(h)    “The following morning…” ….”Neks day maanin….”
(i)    “..the sheer genius of the Maya”…”..di tap-a-tap smaatnis a di Maya”
(j)    “…her entire body was burning with fatigue”…”ih hoal badi mi-di bon
